Balears Cambio de Tercio has been awarded the Innovation in Bullfighting prize at La Razón’s Talento Empresarial Awards, recognizing a business model that blends cultural heritage with modern management. The distinction was accepted by company partners Francisco D’Agostino and Javier Conde, whose work has helped revive bullfighting venues in Spain’s Balearic Islands.
The ceremony took place in Madrid on the evening of February 11 and brought together leaders from business, culture, and public administration. The award was presented by La Razón’s editor-in-chief Francisco Marhuenda, alongside Carlos Novillo, Madrid’s Regional Minister for the Environment, Agriculture and the Interior. Economist Antonini de Jiménez also took part in the program, which highlighted entrepreneurship as a driver of competitiveness and transformation.
In his remarks, Francisco Javier D’Agostino Casado emphasized the importance of understanding bullfighting within Spain’s broader historical and cultural context. He spoke about the country’s landscape and identity, arguing that the bullring remains a recurring landmark across cities and towns, and that preserving this legacy requires professionalism, transparency, and a contemporary outlook.
D’Agostino noted that the company’s mission goes beyond staging events. “Our goal is to help sustain a cultural ecosystem,” he said, pointing to a long-term strategy that respects tradition while adapting to present-day expectations. Javier Conde echoed that view, crediting the project’s disciplined approach for restoring public interest and credibility in venues that had faced years of inactivity.
Over the past two seasons, Balears Cambio de Tercio has posted tangible results: reopening historic arenas, achieving multiple sellouts, and reestablishing a regular calendar in regions where bullfighting had nearly disappeared. Under Francisco D’Agostino’s leadership, the company has paired carefully curated lineups with diversified breeding programs and direct engagement with local audiences.
Looking ahead, the firm plans to unveil its next season at a dedicated gala later this month, where it will present upcoming events and outline its roadmap. The award underscores how Francisco D’Agostino and Javier Conde are positioning Balears Cambio de Tercio as a case study in how traditional cultural industries can be revitalized through sound business practices and forward-looking vision—an approach increasingly resonant with international audiences.
