The Northeastern Region of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated will bring together hundreds of community members, youth, and families across three cities on Saturday, April 11, 2026, for the Region's Swim 1922 Series Activation — a Tier 1 water safety event simulcast live from Charlotte, the Bronx, and Washington, D.C., from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
The program is part of Swim 1922, the sorority's international water safety initiative dedicated to closing the drowning gap in underserved communities. The Northeastern Region activation marks one of the largest multi-city simultaneous deployments of the initiative — and the first in a series of community-focused service programs leading to the Region's 84th Annual Northeastern Regional Conference.
Made possible through a generous partnership with Macy's, the activation reflects the power of corporate commitment to community well-being. "Thanks to our partnership with Macy's and their generous $50,000 sponsorship, we're able to bring our Swim 1922 activation programming to multiple cities," said Dawne S. Stanton, 25th Regional Director of the Northeastern Region of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
Guests will participate in water safety demonstrations, aquatic safety instruction, swim education activities, and youth and family programming — all broadcast simultaneously across all three locations. The event carries the designation of a Tier 1 Swim Event, the highest classification within the Swim 1922 program, and will welcome Olympic athletes, Regional sorority leadership, Councilman Kevin Riley at the Bronx location, and the President of Howard University at the Washington, D.C. location.
