Rock Solid Septic ~ Excavation, a locally owned septic and excavation company serving Upstate South Carolina, has released a new 2026 pricing guide for septic tank pumping in Greenville County. The guide gives homeowners clear pricing by tank size, explains why Greenville County service rates run slightly higher than Spartanburg County, and outlines what is included in a professional pump-out.

According to the company, standard Greenville County septic pumping currently starts at $450 for a 1,000-gallon tank, with 1,250- and 1,500-gallon tanks priced at $575 and 2,000-gallon tanks priced at $850. Prices may vary when systems involve buried tanks, no risers, two-tank setups, emergency scheduling, or difficult access due to fencing, landscaping, or HOA requirements.

“Homeowners usually aren’t just asking for a number,” said John Rusev, owner of Rock Solid Septic ~ Excavation. “They want to know why one contractor says one price, another says something completely different, and what they’re actually getting for that money.”

The new guide uses a recent Greenville project on Laurelton Place as a real-world example. The homeowner had already paid another contractor six months earlier, but the system began backing up again. When Rock Solid inspected the two-tank system, technicians found the septic tank sitting above normal operating level while the pump tank remained at normal level, pointing to a blocked outlet pipe between the tanks. “The previous contractor pumped the tank, but they didn’t find why it filled back up,” John Rusev said. “That is precisely what sets Rock Solid apart from other contractors when it comes to pumping. During the pumping process, we also conduct an inspection to identify any potential problems”.

Rock Solid says its Greenville County pricing is $50 higher than its Spartanburg County rates because of real operational factors, including longer hauls to licensed SC DHEC-approved disposal facilities, increased traffic and drive time between jobs, a more spread-out service area, and higher operating costs in a fast-growing suburban market. The company’s standard Greenville County pump-out includes locating the tank access point, opening both lids, pumping both compartments fully dry, checking operating levels before pumping, inspecting the tank interior, hauling waste to a licensed disposal facility, replacing lids, and reporting findings directly to the homeowner.

The guide also explains how Greenville County properties often differ from older, more rural Spartanburg County systems. Many Greenville-area homes are located in planned communities or HOA neighborhoods, with finished yards, privacy fencing, irrigation systems, retaining walls, and landscaping that can affect tank access and service time. “Access matters,” John said. “A tank with a riser in an open yard is not the same job as a buried tank behind fencing, landscaping, or hardscaping.”

Rock Solid emphasizes that transparent pricing helps homeowners make better decisions, especially when comparing quotes that may not include inspection, disposal, both compartments, or diagnostic checks. “We’re trying to give homeowners a straight answer before we show up, and then tell them exactly what we found,” John Rusev said.
