New In-Car App Makes MINI Coopers More Desirable Than Ever

The original MINI Connected app allowed MINI Cooper drivers to engage a heightened level of information and entertainment during drives. MINI Connected gave drivers access to social networking, driving directions, news, web-radio and more. The addition of the Driving Excitement MINI app takes the users experience past basic vehicle stats and entertainment options into a drivers paradise filled with functions like Digital Sports Instruments, Force Meter and Condition Check.

Just what does that mean to MINI Cooper owners? In MINI Coopers that have a navigation system equipped with MINI Connected, or in MINI Coopers with Visual Boost, performance data will be seen on the car’s navigation screen. This is an aspect of enhanced vehicle intuition unmatched by other auto manufactures. By tapping in to the car’s engine control unit, the app measures all the major performance parameters.

Perhaps the most awe-inspiring segment of the Driving Excitement app is the Digital Sports Instrument. MINI Cooper drivers will feel like they are piloting their own private plane with a dashboard full gauges and dials in popping color schemes. Imagine staring down at a control panel with fast access to a coolant temperature gauge and engine output bar charts with real-time data. Determined by driver preference settings are views of the car’s RPM or torque in either KW or HP. These readings stay visible even after the peak of performance so that MINI Cooper drivers can record the max numbers achieved.

For measurements and recordings of latitudinal and longitudinal g forces, the Driving Excitement Force Meter is in place, providing displays at the center of the MINI Cooper’s speedometer. The direction of the forces can be noted on a virtual MINI Cooper found illuminated on the on-board monitor. Drivers who care to see how they respond to the car and roadway surroundings can also find information in the Force Meter section of the app.

MINI Cooper drivers with concerns about conditions occurring outside the vehicle will fall in love with the Condition Check feature. This insider look at engine temperature, fuel level and status of the optional Sport Button, allows for a look under the hood without ever leaving the drivers seat. The Condition Check also reports on signs of rain and outdoor temperature. Wittingly put, the screen displays “BE MINI,” if all conditions are optimal for some spirited driving.
