After querying several literary agents, author R.S. Carter found a home for Child Soldiers - Stolen Pawns Series Book One, the first book in a science-fiction trilogy, at a prominent New York literary agency. However, during the editorial period, the Kony 2012 media campaign blitz terminated the engagement.

“My book happens to be on child soldiers. However, it is science-fiction. It isn’t even remotely related. The agent wanted to hold back for a while so I decided to self-publish.”

Child Soldiers is a young adult science-fiction novel where the world wakes up to find over ten thousand American-born teenagers missing. While the country flails in turmoil, the book follows the missing children who have been stolen by another world, drugged, brainwashed and trained to kill.

“The novel is an exciting project especially because this concept is brand new. I created a short video trailer for the novel. Honestly, I have no experience in creating movies. It wasn’t spectacular or anything. But within a few days, two producers called and inquired about the rights.”

The movie rights have not yet been optioned off but discussion is underway. Child Soldiers is R.S. Carter’s first novel.
