Matchmaker Mary Wright Celebrates Matching of First Same Sex Married Couple

Matchmaker Mary Wright brings her unique brand of alternative matchmaking to Chicago. Specializing in matching alternative couples, Mary recently celebrated the legal marriage of a same sex couple she matched last year. “Mary is a very effective matchmaker. I hadn't dated in years and now I'm married to the man of my dreams”, says Steven, an Unlocked Love client. In 2008, the boutique matchmaking firm, Unlocked Love Matchmakers, LLC., was founded in New York City. The firm is opening its first office outside of New England and it will be located in Downtown Chicago.

Founder Mary Wright says, “In an effort to discover what Chicago has for lovers, I'll be blogging at ChicagoNow to share my experiences with others.” The new blog hosted by ChicagoNow (a subsidiary of the Chicago Tribune) will be called 'Single Scene Chicago' and launches this Fall. The firm also has office openings planned for Atlanta, Dallas and San Francisco. Despite the recession, top matchmakers have reported no decrease in business and demand for matchmaking services has only increased since the start of the recession. A flurry of new television shows, focused on matchmaking, have made the profession hotter than ever.

When asked if any of the firms matchmakers were planning to expand to the small screen, Mary said, “You never know. We've been approached but nothing is final.” With dozens of marriages under their belt, apparently clients are happy with the firms results. Mary offers tips for anyone who thinks it's too late to find love. She suggests you stay open-minded and believe you will find love. She points out that finding love often requires a person to take action, for instance, going out on the weekend or trying something new. Finally, surround yourself by people who are also open to dating and looking for a relationship. The most important factors are showing confidence, smiling and being extroverted.
