Ten years ago, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon debuted for the 2003 model year as one of the most off-road-ready vehicles on the market. Named after the Sierra Nevada’s Rubicon Trail, one of the most demanding off-road trails in the world, the Wrangler Rubicon was designed to set the benchmark for capability. Staying true to those roots, Jeep has set the bar even higher with its 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition, which was recently revealed at the LA Auto Show ahead of its dealership debut next spring.

The special-edition Wrangler Rubicon emphasizes its off-road DNA with even more trail-ready equipment, including a half-inch increase in ride height, front and rear red tow hooks, Mopar rock rails, and black steel front and rear bumpers. A dual-intake Power Dome hood helps cool the 285-horsepower V6 engine while also creating a more imposing demeanor. Inside, optional Anniversary Red leather seats can complement the available exterior colors of Billet Silver, White or the 10th Anniversary Edition-exclusive Anvil.

"With a decade under its belt, the Wrangler Rubicon is only getting better with age, and the 10th Anniversary Edition is the most capable version yet," said Tim Parker, dealer principal of Tim Parker Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, a Hot Springs, Arkansas Jeep dealer. "Jeep drivers who love to get off the beaten path will have yet another model to choose from that can go anywhere and look great while doing so."

Another new addition to the Wrangler lineup, the 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Moab Edition, recently won Four Wheeler magazine's 2013 Four Wheeler of the Year award. In addition to being honored for its capability both on- and off-road, the Moab Edition was praised for its interior comfort and amenities, including its leather seats, 6.5-inch touchscreen display and Mopar slush mats. Editors also noted a number of exterior features that enhance the trail experience, like the winch-ready steel bumpers and rear locker.

To be considered for the Four Wheeler of the Year award, a vehicle must be all-new or substantially updated from the previous model year. Each off-roader is tested in five categories, including trail performance, mechanical and empirical data, highway performance, interior and exterior. Editors take the competing vehicles across a wide range of terrain over the course of 1,000 miles, including rocky trails, dry lakebeds and sand, as well as winding mountain roads and highways.

The Jeep Wrangler Moab Edition and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Moab Edition are named after Moab, Utah, one of the most popular off-roading destinations in the world. Jeep equipped the utility vehicles with an array of all-terrain parts to match their rugged namesake, including 17-inch Rubicon alloy wheels and rock rails. "Moab" decals on the hood help distinguish the special editions from regular Wrangler models.

"The Jeep Wrangler is an iconic vehicle that continues to live up to the hype because it is constantly being improved upon," added Parker. "Jeep's special editions help drivers choose the specific off-road traits that best suit their regular adventures, whether they prefer the rock faces in Utah or the twisting roads in the Ouachita Mountains."
