Pedlars launches Product of the Month competition for budding designers

Pedlars, purveyor of vintage products and original wares lovingly sourced from across the world and from British designers, has launched an exciting monthly competition for all budding designers.

Simply called ‘Product of the Month’, the monthly competition was launched in November 2012 to give customers a chance to design a product chosen by the Pedlars team. The first month saw customers invited to put Palomino Blackwing pencil to paper and design a mug.

Once the deadline for entries was reached, all 200 designs were displayed on the website so customers could vote for their favourite. The design with the most votes was then produced as part of the Pedlars collection. The winning design – Katie May’s Moustache Mug – is available to pre-order for just £10 on pedlars.co.uk and Katie received £500 worth of Pedlars vouchers, plus an additional voucher to spend and a donation to her chosen charity ‘Movember’ every time one of her mugs is sold. Three runners up – Sarah Edmonds, Beau Brentnall and Rich Wells – also won vouchers.

Of the response to the first competition, Georgina Palmer, e-commerce manager at Pedlars, said: “We received more than 200 entrants and more than 4,000 people voted. We were very pleased not to have had to pick the winners ourselves as there were so many creative and beautiful ideas that we loved.”

She added: “We’d like to say thank you to everyone who entered and would encourage people of all ages to enter the Great Britain-themed competition currently running. A big well done to November’s winner, Katy, whose mug design received a whopping 400 votes!”

Following an overwhelmingly positive response to the latest competition, in which customers have been asked to design a piece of wall art on the theme of Great Britain, Pedlars has extended the deadline to Friday 25 January 2013.
