2014 Mercedes-Benz E250 BlueTEC® Leads Midsize Sedans in Fuel Economy

With many car buyers looking to increase their gas mileage without sacrificing performance, the number of diesel options on the U.S. market is expected to roughly double for the 2014 model year. A new diesel-powered Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan promises to be a standout member of that fresh class, with the 2014 E250 BlueTEC® leading not only its luxury segment in fuel economy, but all midsize sedans.

Returning an impressive 45 mpg on the highway, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E250 BlueTEC® houses a new all-aluminum 2.1-liter in-line four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 195 horsepower and a plentiful 369 pound-feet of torque. The model is also the first diesel E-Class to be offered with 4MATIC® all-wheel drive for confident winter driving. Even when equipped with that added capability, the 2014 E250 BlueTEC® still nets 42 mpg on the highway.

Buyers who opt for the Driver Assistance Package receive a range of active-safety features, including DISTRONIC PLUS® with Steering Assist, which offers radar-based adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous steering at speeds of up to 124 mph.
