Mind Body Makeover is asking for essays from patients who have undergone Lap Band Surgery. One personal journey will be published on the company's website and will serve as an encouragement to others who are contemplating this medical weight loss procedure.

The company has asked interested writers to submit essays which include the following: What roadblocks or obstacles in their lives prevented them from losing weight, how important do they believe exercise is to their overall health after the surgery, and did they have a mentor, family member or friend who helped them on your journey? If so, how important were they to their success?

"Physicians have been recommending Mind Body Makeover to their lap band patients for some time now, and we wanted to give patients not only an opportunity to tell their amazing stories, but the opportunity to win a month with a personal trainer" said Dennis Sheridan, co-owner of Mind Body Makeover. "A month of customized training could make all the difference in the world to their success after surgery. More information about our program for lap band patients is included on our website under Medical Weight Loss."

The contest kicked off today with announcements on Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin and will run through the end of the year. Entries must be a minimum of 750 and a maximum of 1,000 words in length, and submitted in a double-spaced, Word document. Entries are to be emailed to [email protected] by December 31, 2013. The winner will be announced on January 15, 2014. The winning entry will be published on the company's website, www.mbmfit.com and featured throughout their social media channels.

"We are looking forward to hearing from many who can share hopeful words with others to help them on their journey toward better health and fitness," said Marvin Lewis, co-owner of Mind Body Makeover. "We have found that patients who participate in a regular exercise program after the surgery have a much greater success, and we want to encourage them to do so by offering free personal time with a fitness trainer."
