Army chief Prayuth Chan-ocha ordered the 1st Army Area to send soldier teams to help and service the people who are in and around the protest area. The Army services cover medical services, labor services, repairs, cleaning ,and surveying the damage in the area where there had been tensions between the protesters and the police. At this time, the Army troops have already commissioned at Wat Sommanusviharn, Wat Benjamabopit Dusitvanaram’s community area; Thewes Community; and Nang Lerng Community. The Army’s operations will support the mandate of the government to soon restore all areas to normal.

On December 4th, the Army Medical unit provided physical examinations to the monks and novices at Wat Benjamabopit temple who suffered from smoke inhalation from tear gas that was used to suppress the protest groups. Especially during December 1–2, the monks and novices were forced to wear masks. And people in or around the area have suffered, according to Royal Thai Army deputy spokeswoman Colonel Winchai Suwaree.

The Army tried to be always careful in defining their own role so that it would not interfere with politics because the political problems and circumstances not in accordance with constitutional law may result in conflict among all Thai people. It may also lead to violence that would do damage to Thailand. The Army does not want to see this happen.

The army’s efforts involve doing their duty as best they can today. Amid the political conflict, the army is just trying to find a way to help the people to safety. Thailand can move forward and be recognized by several countries. The army did not anticipate exacting force on any parties, and if all parties involved can talk to solve this problem, it would be the best way to satisfy all who are involved.

The army is pleased to be a part of the national military that is honored and trusted by the people. However, the army requests that the rival sides resolve the current crisis through peaceful means. Please do not destroy each other's honor.
