King Felipe VI And Queen Letizia Visit Social Development Projects In Morocco

As part of his official visit to Morocco , HM King Felipe VI of Spain, accompanied by HM King Mohammed VI, inaugurated on Tuesday and a hotel and tourism training center in the Guich Loudaya district in Temara, suburb of Rabat.

The 18 million-dirham project, carried out by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, reflects the particular interest that HM King Mohammed VI gives to the youth, real wealth of the Nation regarding the role they have to play as a stakeholder in the process of Morocco’s social development.

The new center, which also reflects the Sovereign’s determination to integrate this segment of society in the various reforms initiated in the Kingdom, confirms, once again, the choice of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity to make training a vital socio-professional integration tool.

Built on 8.300 sq. meters (2.750 sq. meters covered), the training center includes a pedagogical hotel (reception, four bedrooms, Moroccan living room, modern living room), a catering pavilion (kitchen, restaurant and a conditioning room), a commissary and classrooms, as well as other facilities.

A partnership between the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity (6 million dirhams) and the Office of Vocational Training and Job Promotion (12 million dirhams), the new center will train skilled human resources in hotel and catering business.

The new facility, whose construction works were launched by HM King Mohammed VI on July 13th, 2013, will facilitate access to training for candidates from remote regions, especially girls, as it will provide support to young leaders of projects in the hotel and tourism business.

This project further consolidates the various actions taken by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity in the region of Rabat-Salé-Zemmour-Zaer, aiming at developing the potential of the youth and improving their living conditions.

For their part ,Queen Letizia of Spain and HRH Princess Lalla Salma, chairwoman of the Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment, visited the Sheikha Fatma Centre for Gynaecological-Mammary Oncology at the National Oncology Institute affiliated to the Ibn Sina University Hospital in Rabat.

On this occasion, Queen Letizia and HRH Princess Lalla Salma toured the facility and were given details on the different services it offers.

They also followed a presentation by the Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment, given by deputy director of the foundation Maria Bennani.

Inaugurated in June 2013, the Sheikha Fatma Centre has received 2,600 cases and carried out 660 surgeries including 60% for breast cancer, said director of the center Mohamed Jawad Belahcen in a statement to the press.

This center of excellence is among top health facilities in terms of providing specialized health care for Gynaecological-Mammary cancers as chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery, he said, recalling that the center has a capacity of 30 beds.

The construction of the new center, which spans on 5,190 square meters, has mobilized a budget of 58 million dirhams, including 43 million dirhams as a contribution by the Lalla Salma Foundation and 15 million dirhams from the Ministry of Health and the Ibn Sina Hospital.

The center consists of five levels: a central pharmacy, a unit of 7 consultation rooms and a colposcopy room, a gynecological-mammary cancer surgery room, a hospitalization ward and a research unit.

The different units of the center are expected to accommodate 20,000 annual medical consultations, 650 surgeries and 1,200 hospitalizations.
