In recognition of this season of giving, the Salter School is pleased to announce its holiday giving program. This year’s program will feature a number of community service projects, donation drives, and children’s projects.
The New Bedford campus is proud to host a Toys for Tots drive, and encourages students and staff to donate new, unwrapped toys by December 18. The campus is also supporting a women’s shelter in New Bedford by holding “dress down” days every Thursday in December, in which students may dress down if they bring in a donation for the shelter.
In Fall River, the campus’s toy drive and clothing drive are benefitting Catholic Social Services, which reaches out to those in need with supplies and social services. The campus is also hosting a children’s holiday party. Salter students who have young children may bring them to the party, where they can participate in arts and crafts, and a visit with Santa.
The Tewksbury campus is partnering with the Burlington Coat Factory to run a coat drive this winter. In addition, the student council organized a collection to provide care packages to servicemen and servicewomen stationed overseas during the holidays. Packages were shipped in November, and the service members should receive them in time for the holidays.
“Contributing to a coat drive, care package, or other community activity is a great way to give back during the holiday season, and to help those in need,” says Jennifer McLatchy, director of admissions at the Tewksbury campus. “We are proud of our students for participating in these activities, and for being so generous.”
The Salter School has a long history of integrating community-minded activities with its core career training programs.
