Lerch Bates, the world’s oldest and largest international consulting firm for vertical transportation, façade access, and logistics, has been selected to design the vertical transportation systems for Emaar Square in Cairo, Egypt. Emaar Square will be a world-class shopping, residential, leisure and entertainment complex within the ambitious Urban Cairo development.

“Emaar Square will be the electrifying urban center of Uptown Cairo upon its completion,” said Lerch Bates Area Vice President – West Jeff Marsh. “Lerch Bates continues to expand its operations around the world and being selected for this expansive project aligns with our strategic growth strategy in the region. Uptown Cairo will be a spectacular addition to one of the world’s oldest cities.”

Emaar Properties is developing the 820,000-square-foot Emaar Square, described as a city within a city, as a part its $2.1 billion mixed-use Uptown Cairo project. The open air mall in Emaar Square will be the country’s largest outdoor mall and will feature The Main Boulevard, The Fashion Walk, and Entertainment Avenue. Emaar Square also will include 16 office and residential towers, dining and entertainment destinations and a 5-star The Address hotel with 250 luxurious rooms and serviced residences. A residential neighborhood with nearly 1,200 upscale homes will be constructed on the outskirts of the square.

Uptown Cairo is currently being built on the highest hill form in the city and will be one of the most prestigious resort style residential golf communities throughout Egypt. The 1,198-acre project will be the first gated, integrated community project in central Cairo and will offer a wide range of amenities including world-class shopping centers, a business park, hotels, sports and leisure facilities, 18 hole golf course with a clubhouse and a variety of luxurious residential villages. Uptown Cairo, when complete, will be visible throughout the city including downtown.

For more than 65 years, the Denver-area based firm has built a reputation as the premier designer of vertical transportation and façade access, permanent equipment and rigs utilized for servicing exterior façades including window washing and maintenance systems around the globe. The company has consulted on many of the world’s tallest buildings including the 2,717-foot (428-meter) Burj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 1,667-foot (508-meter) Taipei 101 in Taipei, Taiwan, 1,476-foot (450-meter) Nanjing Greenland Financial Center in Nanjing, China and 1,389- foot (423-meter) Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago, Illinois.
