The recent WhatsApp policy changes to privacy settings created new alternatives like SnatchApp to offer improved cybersecurity.

WhatsApp, the free cross-platform messaging app, recently announced changes to their terms and conditions impacting almost over 2 billion user’s privacy settings, which will take effect after 8 February. The recent announcement indicated that WhatsApp will integrate with various features on Facebook, who acquired the platform in 2014.

The company sent an in-app message to its users stating it’s new terms, namely, the type of data it will be able to collect, which includes the user account’s phone number and their contact’s phone numbers, profile name and pictures, status information, and various other data from the app’s logs.

As a privacy-encrypted messaging platform, the recent changes have left many feeling compromised about their data privacy if they choose to continue using the app. This caused many other messaging platforms like SnatchApp, Signal, and Telegram, and popular business and technology magnates like Elon Musk, who tweeted ‘Use Signal’, to come forward.

Data has become the primary language and currency in the digital age right now, with dispersal among various digital platforms, users need to be discerning about how and where their data will be collected. That is why alternatives like SnatchApp offer more security and privacy for users.

SnatchApp was founded in 2015 by Avi and Henri Benezra, and is the latest messaging app for voice and video calls on the market. It offers a variety of data-safety features, namely, End-to-End Encryption, which keeps all data from messages between the people who are messaging, excluding all third-parties. It is important to choose a platform that has this feature as a default setting - this is provided by SnatchApp.

Apart from the general security features offered, SnatchApp also offers self-destructing messages, which disappear a few minutes after sending it. Users can also choose to send messages delivered in a ‘sealed envelope’, which hides messages, giving more privacy between users, whether it is for personal or professional use.

Other features include Open Source code, which allows the software to be accessed, verified, and audited by other web development experts who can ensure the app is keeping its promises when it comes to data and privacy. Messaging applications like SnatchApp and Signal use open source code, where applications like WhatsApp and Telegram do not provide code as open source. Features like these make the platform more credible to the public due its transparency.

SnatchApp is available for free download in four versions, namely, the Web, Android, iOS, and Windows Desktop and has had positive reviews on Google Play (over 2000 people reviewed it thus far) and iTunes, with 4.2 out of five ratings on Google Play. Considering it’s still a new platform on the market, SnatchApp is making positive headway when it comes to critics who also reviewed well-known platforms like Zoom, rating at 3.6 on Google Play.

SnatchApp competes with many other free messaging applications like Signal, Telegram, WeChat, Viber, and Zoom that also offer the standard end-to-end encryption and privacy features, but SnatchApp’s unique edge, among others, comes with its smart AI technology and integration with SnatchBot and P2P payment solutions, making online payments easier and versatile for ecommerce.

Additionally, SnatchApp includes creative elements for users who want to connect with family and friends, features like the Voice Changer allow users to change the pitch of their voices, users can be choose their online visibility and delivery status, send files through the File Share option, and access their contacts from platforms like Google, Yahoo, and Outlook.

SnatchApp is a free, open-source messaging and communication platform, founded by brothers Henri Benezra (CEO) and Avi Benezra (CTO). Henri has expertise in the communications industry and Avi in the AI-industry, who additionally leads the SnatchBot integrations with SnatchApp.

While the standard security features ensure data privacy, there will be some data collected, this is known as Metadata, and varies with each service provider. It can include data from phonebook numbers, how often a user is online, location settings, and more. It’s recommended to find out what data is used by the different messaging platforms.
