Chicago, Illinois — Jerry Freund, President of MidAmerican Printing Systems in Chicago, took a proactive approach and adapted to the Pandemic faster than the competition. The switch was made to Pandemic-related products, supplying clients with PPE and signage. It took MidAmerican Print to think beyond just large format printing, which has always been at the core of their commercial printing service and focus on direct mail marketing collateral like brochures, postcards and flyers.

As the competition was closing down, MidAmerican Printing Systems had to adapt to a fast-changing landscape to help keep the company afloat. While MidAmerican Print Systems survived through the 2008 recession, the 2020 pandemic “was very different,” according to Jerry Freund, whose focus has always been improving communication, which saved the company. Open communication and comparatively better communication helped the company quickly pivot to offering a whole different type of printing and in a whole different way.

“I don’t think that we’ll see things returning to normal, at least not the normal we used to have. It might take a few years, but in the meantime, we’ll continue to pay attention to our customers’ needs. We will continue to provide them (customers) with everything they need, make the process as personal and yet quick at the same time.” Said Jerry Freund, President of MidAmerican Printing Systems.

He added, “We continue to print a great deal of COVID-19 related collateral for clients like floor graphics, sneeze screens, outdoor promotional signage, window graphics etc., all of which is needed to keep customers safe. However, because businesses are not opening, this type of work is dropping off too. I think that the new requirement for many of our customers will be promotions so that they can return to pre-lock down sales and marketing levels.”
