Introducing…Katie White, our English Tutor for Academic Purposes from our Student Services Team:
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your role?
“My name is Katie White and my role is EAP tutor, which is English for Academic Purposes. I support all students, whether it’s in language or essay writing.
“Sometimes students bring their essays to the tutorial and we do one-to-one support. These are usually about an hour long and the student will come with their work, or they might want to talk about other study issues like time management, motivation or revision skills.
“As well as that, I also teach on the MChiro Gateway course on the academic study module. I also run workshops on academic skills and how to write particular types of essay, like lab reports.”
How long have you been working here?
“I started in 2017, so I've been here for a few years now - I love every part of it.”
How do you support new students?
“If students are struggling or need any extra help with their studies, then they can come to us. So often it will be an essay that they're writing, and if they are not a non-native speaker, they may want help with their language or their grammar, but sometimes they just want another person to read their work and to bounce ideas off.
