There seem to be so many different aspects to SEO that professionals working in this space often leave nothing to chance. In spite of the fact that this is the case, some of the things that they are doing may not be quite as effective as they are hoping. Google’s John Mueller took to Reddit to shed some light on one of the most contentious topics that has been taking the SEO community by storm these days.

Many SEO professionals assume that using WordPress is better for SEO than coding your own website. It also requires a lot less effort, so it seems like a win-win scenario with all things having been considered and taken into account. It turns out that WordPress is no better for SEO than any other CMS, whether that be Wix, Squarespace or a website that you chose to code all by yourself. That might make WordPress less tantalizing of an option than might have been the case otherwise.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that using WordPress may be better than creating your own website through self coding from a few other angles. For one thing, Mueller says that using a CMS frees up your time to focus on the content. That can be useful because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up giving you better rankings on the SERP. Content is king after all, so anything that lets you prioritize it is something worth looking into.
