In May 2024, Porsche unveiled its newest and most advanced iteration of the Porsche 911 to date, with the 992.2 model refreshed and due for release in 2025, first shared with the automotive industry and wider Porsche community alongside announcements about the Carrera GTS.

Amid speculation, hype, and excitement, the 992.2 represents a refined and subtle yet effective twist on the traditional Porsche driving and handling experience. It retains the trademark profile and racing-centric silhouette but with Porsche's customary respect for heritage and appreciation for innovation.

How T-Hybrid Tech Incorporated Within the Porsche 992.2 Ramps Up Acceleration

We’ll start by explaining how the T-hybrid (turbo-hybrid) tech, a much-talked-about-feature of the new 992.2, works—a technology that was originally used within the 919 Hybrid racing model and that, in the 992.2, functions alongside an electric exhaust turbocharger.

Although it features a curved, bright, and crystal-clear 12.65-inch display, the classic rev counter remains directly in front of the driver, with analogue functionality—something Porsche purists will undoubtedly be pleased to see!

Buyers can choose an optional Sport Chrono display, a more pared-back and refined interior option, or the more modern 3D navigation system, which offers the latest in driver assistance technology without diminishing the design aesthetics.

The 992.2 comes with two seats as standard, which contributes to lower weight thresholds, but depending on your practical requirements, you can optionally add back seats.

Drivers selecting a soft-top Cabriolet can still enjoy the satisfaction of opening or closing the roof in an impressive 12 seconds, even at speeds. The Targa models incorporate an automatic roof system and roll bar, providing great options for lovers of convertibles and coupes alike.

Lighting and Safety Features Built Into the Porsche 992.2

As you'd anticipate, the Porsche lights are far from ordinary. They have a dynamic Matrix LED system that emits 64,000 pixels and intelligent functionality to adjust according to traffic conditions, lighting levels, and oncoming vehicles.

Some of the added extra technology could potentially be a little redundant for everyday driving, but if you’d like a broad range of options, you’ll find them as standard:

A quick tip: You can adjust the programming of the lift system to customise it to your usual parking spots and driving habits. The car will recognise specific locations and environments to activate the lift system before you reach the hazard.

What to Expect From Your First Test Drive in the New Porsche 992.2

It’s impossible to talk about a new Porsche model without mentioning the driver experience. This is part and parcel of the reason the marque has maintained its crown in the premium automotive space for so many years—it's a car that feels and handles like no other, and the 992.2 doesn’t falter.

The rear-axle steering included with the GTS models assists with turning and complex parking manoeuvres. When you reach higher speeds on the open road, the synchronised wheel turning makes the drive feel stable and controlled, augmenting driver confidence and relaxation.

Other features worth highlighting include:

The aluminium monobloc callipers, which are standard in all models, provide faultless consistency. However, there is an option of upgrading to Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes, which are better suited for lap driving and tracks.

Finally, the 10 mm reduction in height and stiffer springs found in the GTS are a calling card of the Porsche Active Suspension Management system, which provides adjustable suspension that is suited to controlled driving on sharp corners and meandering roads or urban and motorways without stumbling over imperfections in the road surface.
