Roami today announced the opening of Roami at Century Plaza, a 146-suite apartment-hotel occupying a full city block in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. Located directly across from the Minneapolis Convention Center, the property blends the architectural character of a landmark 1932 building with the flexibility and comfort of modern apartment-style hospitality.
The property was developed in partnership with Swervo Development Corporation, a Minneapolis-based real estate developer focused on adaptive reuse and urban redevelopment projects.
The property is now open for reservations during a soft launch phase, with a grand opening planned for early summer 2026 once the full amenities build-out is complete.

A Storied Minneapolis Building Reawakens
Originally constructed in 1932 as Miller Vocational High School, Century Plaza is one of downtown Minneapolis’s most architecturally significant Streamline Moderne buildings, sharing its design lineage with the Minneapolis Armory and the Minneapolis Post Office. The building later served as office space and, from 1996 to 2017, as Hennepin County’s downtown human services hub.
After nearly a decade of dormancy, its reopening as Roami at Century Plaza marks one of the most significant adaptive reuse projects in downtown Minneapolis in recent years - bringing new life back to a historic landmark in the center of the city.

Century Plaza is the second Roami property in the Twin Cities, following the recent opening of Roami at The Fitz in St. Paul. Together, the two properties represent approximately 230 suites across the metro and reflect Roami’s focus on larger urban buildings, flexible stays, and a consistent guest experience.
