Reno Riverwalk Merchants Association, a coalition of more than 45 businesses located along the Riverwalk in downtown Reno, has stepped up to lead the charge as the quickly growing culinary wundurlust that has hit Downtown Reno.
“Everybody benefits from a beautiful, and active downtown river district,” said Matt Polley, Riverwalk Merchants Association Past President and owner of Java Jungle in downtown Reno. “The area hosts special events, concerts and builds memories for members of our community, adding a vibrant dining district is yet another step in the right direction.” said Rick Martinez, Riverwalk Merchants Association 2012 President and owner of West St. Wine Bar in the West Street Market.
The Riverwalk Dining District is where Foodies come to feast on the many options of culinary excellence located in the Heart of Reno, Nevada. The Riverwalk features unique options in dining & entertainment showcasing selections from around the world. Adding the title of Northern Nevada's new “Dining District” is one more attraction for the community.
To kick off the new Dining District merchants have teamed up for downtown Reno's 1st Annual Dine The District Self-guided Food Tour on Saturday, June 9th 2012, 1pmto 4pm. Not only will guests have an opportunity to enjoy a variety of culinary delights from the best restaurants in the Reno area, the proceeds will help support the continued development of the Riverwalk District.
The cost is $20 per person, FREE for children 10 years of age and under. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.dinethedistrict/eventbrite.com or during the day of the event. Redeem tickets by presenting receipt at the new Reno Tahoe Visitor Center located in the Reno eNVy store, at 135 North Sierra Street Reno, during the day of the event, you will receive a food tour map as your formal admission to the self-guided tour during the day of the event.
With the already very popular monthly Wine Walk the Dine the District food tours will provide another opportunity for the community to enjoy the area. Some of the food tours participants include Wild River Grille, Java Jungle, West St. Wine Bar, Pie Face Pizza Company, Old Granite Street Eatery, 5 Star Saloon, Campo, Fuego for Tapas & Vino, Bumble Bee Blooms, Imperial Bar & Lounge, Beaujolais Bistro, JB Mapes and an estimated 15 other merchants already located within the Riverwalk.
“We hope this event will bring awareness, support and additional revenue for the business located in downtown Reno” Said Rick Martinez. With the Riverwalk quickly growing to be the culinary epic center of the city the Associations goal is to create future monthly food tours, progressive dining tours, a Riverwalk cookbook and eventually an official Restaurant week for the Reno area.
All the funds raised by the Riverwalk Merchants Association will help establish a safer, cleaner and more vibrant downtown area.
