Songs Official Music Video by The Van Allen Belt

The Songs music video is a busy piece of hallucinogenic pop from one of the Steel City’s most underrated bands.

The Van Allen Belt is the vision of songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Benjamin K. Ferris. The project began in a bedroom studio with vocal collaborator Tamar Kamin, and has developed to include sound designer/video collaborator Scott Taylor and bassist Tom Altes. Their music stands at the forefront of new independent pop; artistic, neo-psychedelic, yet approachable and familiar. Think of Portishead performing Burt Bacharach with White Noise as the orchestra.

This official music video was conceived by vocalist Tamar Kamin as a visual narrative to the title track on the band's new 7" vinyl record “Songs.” It was filmed on location at an abandoned level floor of what was once a Woolworth’s in Youngstown, OH. The director of photography, Scott Taylor, complements the old-fashioned feel for the location and props with an original style of analog and digital video feedback he developed using a customized system. The result is evocative of the group’s collage-like style, patching modern visual effects onto historic foundations.

"Songs" is currently in rotation on college radio and non-commercial AAA stations in the US & Canada
