Redesigned for the 2013 model year to be more stylish, fuel efficient and tech friendly, the Nissan Altima has seemingly succeeded at living up to buyers' high expectations in the competitive midsize segment, recently earning an AutoPacific Ideal Vehicle Award. The 2013 Altima topped the Mid-Size Car category in the auto researcher's awards, which recognize the new models that best meet the needs and desires of their owners.

Retrieving the feedback of more than 52,000 owners of 2013-model-year vehicles after they had been with their ride for at least 90 days, AutoPacific uncovered the changes that each driver would like to make to their vehicle across 15 attributes, ranging from styling and performance to technology and comfort. The 2013 Nissan Altima earned its Ideal Vehicle Award after its owners suggested the fewest changes of any model in the Mid-Size Car segment.

"From the class-leading fuel economy to the bevy of useful tech features, Nissan's engineers thought of everything while redesigning the Altima, so it's not surprising that its owners struggled to find much room for improvement in the Ideal Vehicle Awards," said Bruce Garcia, general sales manager of Mastria Nissan, a Greater Boston Nissan dealership in Raynham, Mass. "Drivers of the Altima get an upscale, refined ride that handles just as well as it saves them at the gas pump."

Coming standard with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a new Xtronic CVT, the 2013 Nissan Altima returns an impressive 38 mpg on the highway, while the available 3.5-liter V6 increases responsiveness with 270 horsepower. That performance is complemented by several technology features, including Bluetooth connectivity, an Easy-Fill Tire Alert system that sounds a honk when a tire reaches the proper pressure level and an optional NissanConnect infotainment system, which syncs with smartphone apps like Pandora Internet radio and Google POI searches.

The new Nissan Altima's modern features continue to attract new buyers to U.S. dealerships, as the car achieved record July sales last month. With 29,534 models finding new homes, sales of the Altima rose by 11 percent in July compared to the same month last year. Two other recently redesigned models, the Nissan Pathfinder and Nissan Versa, also saw best-ever sales for the month, helping the auto brand's overall sales reach a record July as well.

"Nissan has redesigned four of its popular models in a little more than a year, and their improved performance, fuel efficiency and technology are driving a lot of traffic to dealerships," added Garcia. "A fifth all-new model, the 2014 Nissan Rogue, will be arriving late this year, and we expect it'll help the automaker seal the deal on another record year of sales."
