Construction of the Garden Prairie Intermediate School in Beloit, was finally completed after a year and a half of hard work. The leading Wausau contractors worked with Bray Architects and Klobucar construction on the planning and building of the new facility, costing $15 million in the Beloit Turner School District. The general construction companies, at times, have had to pool their resources and expertise to pull off some of the challenges associated with the commercial construction project.
The new Garden Prairie Intermediate School is effectively meant to replace the old Townview Elementary School. The new school's opening and the construction work's finishing was celebrated with a dedication ceremony which included a ribbon cutting on August 25th, 2021. The event was attended by several members of the community, who wanted to also get a first look at the new school.
Also in attendance were representatives from the Beloit Turner School District, Scherrer Construction, Garden Prairie Intermediate school, Bray Architects, and Klobucar Constructions, who gathered for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new school.
Scherrer Construction announced on their official website that the new building spreads across 86,000 square feet and features the latest infrastructure, upgraded security, safety features, and a better learning environment. The construction also includes a cafeteria, a library, media center, technology, engineering, mathematics, and science centers, and a 400-seat bleacher system.
The new building also features themed academic wings like farmland, one for wilderness, and there is a riverfront theme that is meant to enhance student inspiration and engage with them in the learning environment. The wing is also equipped with breakout rooms, bathrooms, and lockers. The large hallways are designed to enable small groups of students to walk together.
