In 2006, when Amit Patel first set out to build his own luxury yacht company, his goal was simple: ensure that he could offer the very best experience possible to people who wanted nothing more than to get away from it all in the most relaxing way possible. We spoke with Amit about how Xclusive Yachts was created, what makes their yachts unique, and what his plans are for the future of the company.
From humble beginnings
This business started with a man in his twenties running a private yacht on behalf of wealthy London residents. As a rule, these residents didn't use their yacht much, and this enabled the man to come up with the idea of renting it to others who didn't own their own boats. He worked out how to formalize a license and register the company as a legal business with the support of the owners. At that time, no one operated a business like that in Dubai, and it was quite difficult to promote a new business model to the authorities. Initially, their company focused on charters for boats 70-feet or smaller and it booked an average of 2-3 of those charters a week. Today the market has shifted and the majority of charters are in this category.
Changing course into superyacht management
Amit is a yachting industry veteran with 15 years of experience and a fleet of 70 plus boats and yachts. His business acumen has been instrumental in the rapid expansion of Xclusive Yacht Management over the past 5 years. The company now offers Yacht Rentals, Gulet Tour, Fishing, Ain Tour, Cruise dinner, and many more to clients from around the world. As his venture continues its upward trajectory, he has even bigger plans for the future.
