Divers of all experience levels can find great dive sites in Cozumel. However, according to Cozumel dive map there are many breathtaking Cozumel dive spots for beginning divers to explore due to the clean water and numerous reefs.
PALANCAR GARDENS: (Depth: 60′ – 80′)
One of the most popular dive sites on the island, Palancar Gardens features large coral formations and a variety of sea life. Divers can explore swim-throughs, canyons, and crevices while looking for angelfish, groupers, barracuda, and sea turtles. With excellent visibility, this is a great dive site for all levels of experience.
SOFIA’S REEF:(Depth: 30′ – 60′)
A relatively new discovery, Sofia’s Reef is known for its abundance of sea life and fantastic coral. The reef is in the middle of the channel between St. Croix and Buck Island. This area is known for its abundant sea life including parrotfish and colorful grouper. It is one of the most desired Cozumel scuba diving place.
THE CANYON: (Depth: 50′ – 75′)
A deep-water wall with a gentle current, the Canyon is a favorite among divers. The wall drops into a canyon-like channel with a gentle current. Schools of barracuda, snapper, grunts, and jacks are often seen here, along with many other types of sea life.
COLOMBIA REEF: (Depth: 60′)
This reef is located on the southwest side of Cozumel and is one of the best dive sites in Cozumel for experienced divers. You can expect to see lots of large pelagic fish, sharks, rays and turtles. The currents can be strong at this reef, so it is recommended for experienced divers only.
