Diamon-Fusion International (DFI) has unveiled its new Diamon-Fusion® formulation for creating sustainable glass building exteriors. The new formula was developed to cater to the building and hospitality industry. It ensures faster cleaning cycles of exterior glass surfaces as well as hotel shower doors, panels, and other challenging surfaces like sand-blasted glass.

The new formulation is propelling the global sustainability movement by curbing the rate of glass thrown away which amounts to about 5% of the global waste composition. DFI is achieving this through its nano-coating technologies which are capable of protecting glass from deteriorating and restoring damaged glass to its brand-new state. “To know that buildings can go without cleaning for 3 or 4 years is exciting, which truly makes surfaces treated with our coatings more sustainable,” Adam Zax, President of DFI stated.

This sustainable formulation also saves the amount of water and chemicals used in cleaning all kinds of glass and silica-based surfaces. DFI’s offerings for their coatings include both hand-applied and automated protective glass coatings, as well as restoration products used to restore glass that has been damaged from stains and corrosion.

In the evaluation stage, the glass exterior in need of cleaning is carefully analyzed to detect the extent of repairs needed on it; next, the cleaning process involves in-depth stain removal, and glass restoration with their proprietary formulations. Finally, the coating process involves applying the Diamon-Fusion® protective coat to the surface to reduce maintenance costs and prevent future damage.

After the glass is restored and coated, it prevents calcium, minerals, acid rain, and other forms of environmental pollution predominantly known for corroding regular glass exteriors from sticking or leaching deep into it.

The findings from the product-testing stage showed the formulation helped cleaning crews reduce the cleaning time needed substantially. In addition to this, Diamon-Fusion® coatings are capable of helping stakeholders in the building and hospitality industries contribute to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) points for their LEED certifications. Diamon-Fusion® has helped projects achieve LEED certification levels as high as Double Platinum.

Commenting on the new Diamon-Fusion® formulation, Adam Zax said, “Ultra-thin and transparent, Diamon-Fusion® is a low-maintenance coating that chemically bonds to the glass making the surfaces water-repellent, stain-resistant, harder to scratch, and more impact-resistant. The coating was inspired by non-stick kitchen pans which take about 80% less time to clean, compared to the time it takes to clean uncoated pans. This formulation enables our clients to easily maintain their glass exteriors and it dramatically reduces the need for cleaning, which eliminates much of the time window washers spend dangerously cleaning high-rise buildings, and thus the associated insurance costs. Diamon-Fusion® also reduces the amount of water and cleaning chemicals required for glass maintenance, which has a ripple effect on the reduction of people's exposure to harmful products.”
