The Dallas-based non-profit organization, LifeSavers Foundation, has announced ambitious growth plans to provide pre-medical care to underserved communities in Dallas. The foundation is dedicated to helping women and children in poverty gain access to healthcare. Their fundraising comes from their Upscale Resale store, fundraising events, and generous donors. This money is put towards their Doctor Spot clinics, which serve people who are in crisis.

The Doctor Spot is a free medical clinic for children in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The LifeSavers foundation is now set to expand these services, with the opening of two new sites in poverty-stricken areas of Dallas. In addition, the foundation provides a mobile sonogram unit for pregnant women, equipped to provide free sonograms and with staff to encourage them. The foundation takes the health and safety of both mother and child seriously.

The foundation is further expanding its services by providing primary women’s health care, including sonograms, and early pregnancy management. Lifesavers is a life-affirming organization that values all life, and assists women when pregnancy is a difficult decision. They offer their support by meeting the daily living needs of struggling families.

LifeSavers Foundation’s goal is to reach between 8,000 to 12,000 patient visits per year. Dallas county has one of the largest numbers of uninsured children in the United States. The foundation aims to provide the community with accessible primary care, to avoid costly emergency room visits. The emergency room setting is not optimal for children’s primary care treatment; due to exposure to patients with other illnesses, and a variety of challenging social conditions. The expense of an emergency room visit is a far greater cost than the average visit to a primary care provider.

One Doctor Spot clinic is located inside the Inspired Vision Compassion Center, one of the largest food banks in Texas. Families located in this area struggle with high blood pressure, high levels of diabetes, and a large number of incarcerated males. At the clinic, families not only receive medical care, but also health care education, another way of reducing poverty. The foundation remains committed to serving the Dallas community and improving the lives of women and children in need.

"We are happy to announce our growth strategies for the upcoming year, as we continue our mission to improve healthcare access and outcomes for underserved communities in Dallas. The families that the foundation serves struggle financially, socially, spiritually, emotionally, and are often illegal immigrants. We are committed to providing primary medical care and resources that address the root cause of poverty and health disparities, such as a lack of access to basic healthcare services. Our organization relies on the generosity of others to support our work,” says William Denton, CEO of LifeSavers Foundation.
