Denmark-based Autofuel Aps introduces its fully automated robotic refueling system in Espoo, Finland. The new system, which aims to transform the traditional refueling model, offers a range of benefits, including increased safety, convenience, and efficiency. The refueling system is based at a Neste fuel station, the world’s leading producer of renewable diesel. This is the second installation of the system by the company in Finland.

The Autofuel system is designed to eliminate human involvement in the refueling process, reducing the risks associated with conventional gas stations. The robot handles the entire process, from identifying the customer to processing payments and refueling the vehicle. The system can adapt to all types of energy, including EVs and hydrogen cars, making it a versatile solution for the future of mobility.

With the world moving in the direction of AI powered systems and the increasing amount of self-driving cars on the roads, we need to create solutions that allow the mobility of the future to be integrated and easy. These automated robotic refueling systems are an innovative solution.

"We are excited to bring our innovative robotic refueling system to Espoo. Our system offers a range of benefits to customers, gas stations, and energy companies, including increased safety, convenience, and efficiency”, says Jonas Thor Olsen, Partner, and CEO of Autofuel.

One of the main advantages of the Autofuel system is increased safety. By eliminating the need for human involvement in the refueling process, the risk of accidents and injuries is significantly reduced. The system is also designed with safety features, including emergency stop buttons and sensors that detect obstacles and prevent collisions.

In addition to safety, the Autofuel system offers increased convenience for customers. The robot handles the entire refueling process, including identifying the customer and processing payments, without requiring any actions from the customer. The system has been designed as an add-on to the existing dispenser, requires no modifications, and still lets the customer refuel manually if needed.

For gas stations, the Autofuel system offers a range of benefits, including increased efficiency and reduced operating costs. The system is designed to operate 24/7, providing a constant stream of customers without the need for human intervention. The system is also designed to require minimal maintenance, reducing operating costs for gas stations.

The Autofuel system is particularly beneficial for gas station workers, who are often exposed to hazardous chemicals and fuel components during manual refueling. The automated system reduces their exposure to harmful substances, helping to protect their health and well-being. Additionally, the system's robotic technology ensures a faster and smoother traffic flow at gas stations, resulting in increased revenue for the station.

"We believe that our system has a place in the market for both today's convenience and tomorrow's mobility. As self-driving cars become a reality, robotic refueling will be a necessary infrastructure for the future of mobility. We look forward to bringing this innovative solution to more locations in the near future”, Jonas added.

About Autofuel

Autofuel is headquartered in Grindsted, South Denmark, and was founded in 2014. Autofuel is a fully automated refueling system that uses a robot to refuel vehicles. The automated system serves as a link between the vehicle and the energy source at the gas stations. The technology is also capable of handling autonomous cars and alternative fuels. It allows the customers to do automatic or manual refueling at the same dispenser. Autofuel supports the existing dispensers and vehicles without requiring any modifications.
