PlayerAuctions, has recently announced changes to its Power Leveling Marketplace, including revised offer-posting rules, Power Leveler Badges and offer categories.

PlayerAuctions is the largest platform where players can access the secondary market for digital gaming goods, announced the release of a refinement to its power leveling marketplace.* PlayerAuctions has endeavored to create a marketplace that does not privilege large sellers or storefronts and allows smaller individual sellers to flourish and have equality of opportunity and exposure. Simultaneously, PlayerAuctions needs to balance the requirements of buyers, making sure that well-vetted and reputable sellers are visible, discernible, and easily accessible. The suite of changes the marketplace implemented works towards these goals.

In the past, PlayerAuctions implemented an internal seller level system, to ensure that buyers could easily identify which sellers had a robust transaction history – which indicates reliability, as well as a seller deposit system, to protect buyers against seller mistakes or malfeasance. This worked well but proved to be an obstacle to smaller sellers who were either just getting started or didn’t have the capital to pay for a deposit.

To address these concerns, PlayerAuctions created a PowerLeveler Badge system. Offers which have the Powerleveler Badge are backed by a seller deposit, giving buyers peace of mind. These badged offers are shown above regular offers and the icon is visible, ensuring buyers can easily identify them. However, a Powerleveler Badge is not a prerequisite to posting a power leveling offer. All sellers can now post offers, regardless of seller level or deposit, making sure smaller sellers have the same level of accessibility on our marketplace as privileged, larger, storefronts.

“During the Powerleveler Badge R&D process we were laser focused on appropriately balancing the concerns we’d been hearing from smaller sellers as well as buyers,” said Mr. Albert, the Chief Operating Officer at PlayerAuctions, “and we think the results speak for themselves. Buyer satisfaction has been significantly higher and smaller sellers are no longer restricted from posting offers.”

By balancing seller and buyer concerns, PlayerAuctions overcame one of the key operational difficulties of marketplace product design. Ecommerce marketplaces have twin focuses which must be simultaneously met ensuring seller equity, and giving buyers the tools to make informed decisions. By lowering the barrier to entry while clearly signaling more established sellers this Powerleveling Badge rollout was a success, with both buyers and sellers giving positive feedback about enhanced usability and fairness.

As part of these changes, in an effort to improve usability when browsing power leveling offers. PlayerAuctions released navigable subpages by which to sort popular power leveling categories. These can include different events, leveling services, and so on and so forth. This change streamlines the offer-browsing experience, allowing usings to quickly identify the appropriate service for them.
