Leadership transformation consultancy BehavioralOS has revealed its behavior-focused method that helps organizations and their leaders improve communication and elevate performance. It seeks to raise awareness around the art and the science of interpersonal communication by helping leaders become mindful of their own and others’ behavioral choices.

BehavioralOS uses a proprietary model, composed of two energies– push and pull, each having four behavioral styles, further subdivided into six behaviors, for a total of 48 observable, actionable behaviors. This system was developed from the research of Dr. Irv Rubin, a behavioral scientist from MIT, to calibrate or tune communications to ensure impact matches intent.

The 48 behaviors also serve as a common language, bridging people of all personality types and cultures and enabling clearer communication. Today, BehavioralOS’ President and CEO Matt Stone uses this method to improve the self-awareness, EQ, relationships, and performance of numerous organizational leaders around the world. The insightful, constructive, and non-judgmental program produces results without making anyone feel small, deficient, or lacking.

BehavioralOS shuns a “one size fits all” approach and it gets to closely know the organizations it works with to provide custom solutions for their unique workforces, focusing on key interpersonal relationships that drive the organization. According to BehavioralOS, this helps create a culture focused on success rather than firefighting problems caused by poor interactions and misunderstandings.

A typical journey involves BehavioralOS analyzing the client’s organizational health and comparing that with the desires and needs of the leadership. It conducts a gap analysis on an organizational and cultural level, going deeper than a standard engagement survey. BehavioralOS analyzes an organization down to the behavioral level by using the predefined typology of 48 behaviors, rather than just looking at competencies, which can be interpreted differently.

While there are many solutions in the market that promise results, Stone says that most are unable to systematize their methods, making them unscalable and ineffective in the long run. BehavioralOS builds communication as a system into an organization’s culture, which will improve performance, engagement, health, sustainability, and innovation by changing how people communicate interpersonally.

According to Stone, self-awareness is key to achieving effective communication and impactful leadership in an organization. In order for a leader’s moves to create a win-win outcome, they must be mindful of the positive and negative consequences of their decisions and behavior at all times. They should also be able to communicate effectively with all of their unique team members, because this ultimately determines the performance of the whole team. Stone believes that the two most important ingredients in any company are trust and respect. These two qualities are the foundation for a healthy culture, high performance, and successful relationships.

“Naturally, relationships and communication are two-way streets. But what CEOs and other leaders need to understand is that they need to take 100% responsibility from a leadership role for their 50% stake in every single relationship in their company,” Stone says.
