Numbers Protocol and Rolling Stone Magazine have recorded an important success in their partnership, as Emmy Awards recently nominated Rolling Stone’s article on one of Numbers Protocol’s projects. The article titled “Exposing the Truth: How Numbers Protocol is Revolutionizing War Crime Investigation with Startling Lab and Rolling Stone”, which was published in February 2023, might soon be winning an Emmy award.

The article introduced how Numbers Protocol’s on-chain provenance makes it possible for injustices to be documented in a transparent and verifiable way, aiding investigation and legal proceedings. Numbers Protocol is a tech company that offers content verification services to AI-driven companies, using creativity tools. The company offers low-cost digital provenance infrastructure and decentralized storage, which increases trust and creates avenues for content monetization.

Co-founder and Chief Growth Officer of Numbers Protocol, Sofia Yan, says the Emmy award nomination is proof that the partnership with Rolling Stone is a step in the right direction. Yan says Numbers Protocol, alongside its partners like Gladeye, Auckland digital design studio, and Startling Labs, is redefining authenticity by helping original content owners safeguard their ownership of online content without copyrights infringements. According to her, 2.5M unlicensed images are stolen every day, amounting to 600B in damages. Yan notes that Numbers Protocol guarantees digital creators full ownership to their works, not just tokens.

“The Auckland Digital Design Studio, Gladeye, and Startling Labs, played a key role in creating The DJ and The War Crimes digital project. Then, Rolling Stone Magazine’s trio of Sophia Jones, Nidžara Ahmetašević, and Milivoje Pantović, wrote a beautiful piece on this project, which was published in the magazine. This Digital project has now earned high praises, while the article has also received commendation for its compelling narrative about the project’s cutting-edge digital design, and innovative framework that safeguards and verifies digital media files. This framework was developed by Starling Lab and Stanford University with Numbers Protocol's provenance infrastructure. As part of this, Numbers Protocol built the first blockchain dedicated for digital media content,” Yan explains.

She adds that the advancement of technology has made it difficult to differentiate authentic, real content from edited, manipulated and censored digital content. According to her, everything that is seen or heard, can now be faked or altered from its original state. While the company believes in change and the transformative power of technology, it also believes in the rights of content owners in exploring the full potential of their work. She notes that Numbers Protocol has its own application called Capture Cam, aside from having its own blockchain. This enables the company to register the images for every project it manages. She explains that news platforms can also register their news images on Numbers’ blockchain through the Numbers Protocol application. Numbers Protocol are experts at hardware and software technology, which is something quite rare in the industry. The company has some of the best engineers in the industry, who have both hardware and software expertise.

Regarding future goals, Yan says Numbers Protocol aims to partner with more online news platforms. She believes that with more partners, Numbers Protocol can help make the digital space safer, more authentic, and more rewarding. The company also hopes to replicate the feats achieved with Rolling Stone Magazine with new partners.
