Facebook Fans Have Voted on Customized Pickup Truck's Design

After receiving 10 rounds of design input from Facebook voters, a customized 2014 Nissan Titan pickup truck has set off to tackle the Alaskan wilderness, and all the action can be followed at facebook.com/nissantrucks in advance of a YouTube series this fall. The rugged Project Titan was created in conjunction with the Wounded Warrior Project, and two alumni of the veteran-support organization are helming the truck as it takes on some of the most treacherous terrain on earth.

Donning a "Recon Titan" digital-camouflage wrap, the Project Titan's military theme is immediately apparent, while 35-inch Nitto Trail Grappler M/T tires ride on 18-inch Fuel Revolver D525 wheels. An ARB Deluxe Bull Bar will protect the pickup truck's front-end from large branches and rocks as it goes bushwhacking, while Bulldog LED Lighting will illuminate a clear path in the dark. Inside the customized Nissan Titan, the Wounded Warrior Project Alumni are being treated to Katzkin leather-wrapped seats with coordinated tan stitching that is also found on the steering wheel and door panels.

"Nissan's Facebook fans have helped prep the Titan for anything that the Alaskan wilderness can throw at it, and their final design has resulted in a very intimidating pickup truck," said Gabe Despres, general manager of AutoFair Nissan Tewksbury, a Massachusetts Nissan dealership. "That said, the factory-built Titan only received minimal changes to its powertrain for this remote adventure, which is a testament to the truck's extensive capability."

Based on the range-topping 2014 Titan Crew Cab PRO-4X, the Project Titan houses the same Endurance 5.6-liter V8 engine that churns out 317 horsepower and 385 pound-feet of torque for buyers while adding a NISMO cold-air intake and Borla cat-back exhaust system to open up airflow. The impressive output of the Endurance powerplant enables a towing capacity of up to 9,500 pounds, allowing the crowd-sourced truck to easily haul a matching all-terrain camping trailer containing a kitchen, tent, spare tire, and storage for water and fuel. Other off-roading enhancements carried over from the Titan Crew Cab PRO-4X include front skid plates, an electronic locking rear differential and Rancho shocks.
