Leading executive coach Kim Carpenter has made a significant impact in the corporate workplace by empowering women leaders and their teams with her leadership development expertise, as well as a people-centric business philosophy.

As an accomplished speaker and trainer, Kim recently delivered a keynote to celebrate Women’s History Month for the Shebras, the Women's Employee Resource Group (ERG) Program at The Zebra in Austin, Texas.

Her keynote talk, entitled, "Don’t Let Fear Stop You — How to Overcome Amygdala Hijack and Unleash Your Power," shared insights on how the brain reacts to challenges, and how one can tame the stress response to become more agile and resilient in the face of difficulty.

Carpenter says, “Many people are feeling increased fear and anxiety following times of uncertainty and change. My work teaches clients how to more quickly recover from an ‘amygdala hijack,’ where the brain functions are focused on fight, flight, freeze or appease—rather than logic, reason and higher functioning that allows one to stay calm in a crisis.”

This is particularly helpful in the ever-changing world of business, and is of interest to business owners and leaders who want their teams to perform at their best and highest capacity for peak performance.

Studies also show that women are leaving the workplace in large numbers due to the impact of stress from home and work-life pressure.

She adds, “Women undergo more scrutiny than men about emotional reactions, so they have a particular need to harness the natural power of their brain and overcome amygdala hijack.”

Carpenter is the founder of People at the Center, a boutique executive coaching and training firm based in Austin, Texas.

Her success in coaching and leadership development has led her to create highly effective offsite retreats that go by the tenet: “Your company is only as strong as your teams are.”

She comments, “At this time of economic concern, many companies are going through layoffs. This has an impact on the employees that remain, as much as the ones being let go. One of the keys tokeeping engagement high and supporting teams in being innovative, productive and collaborative, is creating an environment of trust and psychological safety. Being able to share openly about fears, concerns and amygdala hijack can go a long way toward creating that type of company culture.”

Popular trainings include: Connected Communication, DISC Communication Styles, Effective Feedback, Building Trust, Five Dysfunctions of a Team, Immunity to Change and 360 Assessments.

In April, Carpenter is launching the World Changing Women” group coaching program designed for corporate women aspiring to advance their careers and create work that inspires them while making a bigger impact.

Carpenter was inspired to launch the group because women are rising into leadership positions and wondering, ‘Is this it?’

She comments, “They find themselves near the top of the ladder and the climb isn’t getting any easier—and they want fulfillment, meaning and to be able to create an impact. My program helps them figure out exactly how to do that in a way that authentically aligns to their lives."

Kim Carpenter's experience in coaching and leadership development, coupled with her passion for empowering women in particular, sets her apart in the coaching industry.

Whether she is delivering a keynote, leading a company offsite retreat, facilitating C-Level Women Executives at the networking organization, Chief, or coaching leaders, Kim Carpenter has a special ability to connect with people and create a safe and supportive environment for their growth and development.
